Technical Manager, Shipyard Manager
Allied Shipbuilders Ltd., located on the north shore of Vancouver harbour is actively seeking applicants for the following management positions at its shipyard. Founded in 1948, Allied Shipbuilders is proud to have built 259 vessels during its nearly sixty years of continuous operation. The company provides ship repair and shipbuilding services to the marine industry on the Pacific Coast of Canada.
Technical Manager
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Technical Manager undertakes and oversees the engineering effort for all work undertaken by the shipyard. The Technical Manager's responsibilities include ensuring the timely production of all technical information for the production group, estimating, work scope definition, providing technical instructions to the trade groups and on site technical support.
Qualifications
The successful candidate requires a minimum of 10 years of hands on technical experience in a shipyard or similar environment and will be a graduate from a recognized technical school with a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar. The successful candidate is a practical, production oriented, organized individual, capable of handling multiple jobs a once. Experience in a shipyard or related production environment at a supervisory level is essential.
Shipyard Manager
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Shipyard Manager is responsible for setting the production priorities and ensuring the production objectives of the shipyard are achieved. Duties will include meeting with customers, developing work scopes, scheduling shipyard activities and ensuring proper work execution through the Project Manager and trade superintendent group. The Shipyard Manager possesses extensive general Knowledge of shipyard processes, ship's structure, ship's systems and regulatory body requirements including Transport Canada and Marine Classification society rules.
Qualifications
The successful candidate requires a minimum of 10 years of practical ship repair or relevant marine experience in a supervisory position such as a Fleet Maintenance Manager, Shore Engineer, Marine Engineer, hands on Shipyard Project Manager, etc. The Successful candidate must be a practical, well organized individual, capable of handling multiple jobs at one time.
